Dr. Ellesse Boiwka O.D.Licensed Optometrist
Dr. Boiwka was born and raised in Amherst, a small town 30 minutes outside of Cleveland, Ohio. After receiving her Bachelor of Arts degree in Zoology from Miami University, she began her professional studies in the South. She obtained her Doctorate in Optometry graduating Summa Cum Laude from the Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, Tennessee. As a student, Dr. Boiwka completed her first clinical rotation in Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina, where she fell in love with the Lowcountry. She completed the remainder of her rotations in Atlanta and Memphis focused on ocular disease, specialty contact lenses, low vision, and pediatrics. Dr. Boiwka also completed her residency specializing in ocular disease at the Louis Stokes VA Medical Center in Cleveland, Ohio. However, she was determined to return to Charleston to practice. She is currently a member of the American Optometric Association and the South Carolina Optometric Physicians Association. When away from the office, Dr. Boiwka enjoys cooking, spending time outdoors and cheering on her favorite sports teams.
Keith EngramLicensed Optician
Keith is a native of the Charleston area and has spent the last 15 years helping people with eyewear needs. Keith obtained his optician license in 2004 and since that time has worked various settings from corporate to private offices.
Keith found his niche in the private setting as it allows for individualization of care and style. Keith also has a keen eye for fashion and will be able to assist you with picking out your new eyeglasses or sunglasses. His skill set also includes repairing and adjusting your glasses to suit your needs.
Keith enjoys fishing, surfing, vintage motorcycles and socializing right here in the Lowcountry.
Dr. Norris, Philbeck, O.D.Licensed Optometrist
Dr. Philbeck graduated from Southern College of Optometry in 1971 with the degree of doctor of Optometry and has over 39 years experience. He served in the US Army as a Captain and as Chief of Optometry for the 82bd Airborne Division located at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. After his departure from the army he opened a private practice in Lancaster, SC where he remained fo...r 16 years. He served as member and president of various organizations as well as member and later as Chairman of the Lancaster County Board of Social Services. He moved to Charleston, SC in 1989 and has practiced here since that time. He has served as a board member and later as Chairman of the Charleston/Dorchester Community Mental Health Center Board. Dr. Philbeck has taken advanced courses from The University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Optometry and the Northeastern State University College of Optometry in Tahlequah, Oklahoma.
